Frances Hardy [userpic]

Well, life parades on and one month of the new year is almost gone. Gone where? And what do I have to show for it? I don't know, but I'll stop being a pessimist now.

Yesterday evening we had a picnic at our place, which about 50 people came to. Mostly friends from church, and considering quite a few people are away, there were more people than I expected. I was also pleased that there were quite a few of us in the late teens-early twenties age bracket. We were able to get to know some of the older children of families we have known because of the parents and who have always been doing other things when their parents have come around. After dessert, we played a game of Scattergories. I was the only person playing outside of a team, and continuously had the lowest score! Ah well, such is life. I guess there were about 13 of us playing. Some of the older guys were making up words, and some of them were a scream. Eventually it became a competition for the most outlandish creations!

Today we spent most of the day cleaning and lounging about. I spent quite some time updating Elizabeth's journal layout.

This afternoon she and I watched a movie called The Pianist about a Jewish pianist living in Warsaw in the Second World War. It was a very well made movie (and a true story - based on his autobiography), and amazingly acted by Adrian Brody, but also quite graphic. Elizabeth hit the fast-forward button a few times ;-) I guess because it was a true story, it was harder, because you couldn't rely on the whole 'oh, they're related to/in love with the main character - they can't die/go mad/get married etc!' Yeah, I enjoyed it, but part of me wonders whether it is just another cloud of images from the plethora of wartime flicks. Who knows, but right now I'm too exhausted to think about it.

I'm replacing my license tomorrow. *sigh* If you feel like praying that I'll find my wallet, it would be appreciated.

Thankyou Franny for my banner!!! Everyone say that Fran is the greatest, cause she is! :-)

And I'll pray for your wallet. Um, not FOR your wallet, but for you and your wallet. Um, well not even for you and your wallet, but that YOU will find your WALLET.

Ok, I'm going to bed!:-P

But first, everyone: The Pianist is a great movie! And if you feel like reading a longer and more interesting review, then friend me and see my latest post.

There - I've done my parading of myself for the day... Now I can sleep in peace.
